Is that an Elf?

So maybe he wasn't propped up on a shelf...
But I'm pretty sure I saw an elf...
He was cheery and bright from his head to his feet.
So whoever he was - he sure made my day sweet!

A Happy Visit

So I wake up from my morning sleep...
And over my crib I take a peep...
There's someone I haven't seen in a while,
so I give my best flirtatious smile...
WAIT! I KNOW THAT PRETTY FACE!
I CAN'T BELIEVE WE"RE IN THE SAME PLACE!
She's in my room! I'm not sure how!?
Bunny - I need to chew on you now.
It's AUNT KAY!!!! SHE'S COME FOR A STAY!
This will be a great HOLIDAY!
No I'm not trying to lick you...this is how I shake hands Aunt Kay ... it's how they do it in Europe. I promise it's very cultured.
Watch I'll do it to bunny...
See? It's perfectly accepted around here.
Hey wait just a minute! What are you doing to my cheeks?!
You're one of THOSE aunts?! :) lol
That's funny!!!
Welcome Home Aunt Kay!
Home is a good place to be. :)

Jet's Story

On the left of our blog you may notice I have added a picture link to what I am calling "Jet's Story." It is simply a separate blog page where I typed up the story of finding out about Jet's diagnosis and how "Our Little Miracle" came to be. I've wanted to put it all together in one place for myself and David for a while now. And I also wanted an easier way for those who are just meeting Jet or just finding our blog to go back and read about his amazing story. :) For those who are not familiar with what happened or want to read more details you can visit that site and read Jet's Story by clicking on the picture or this link here.

No more Doctors please!

Yes that is what my poor baby Jet would say I'm sure. Yesterday we went to have his staples and stitches removed from the shunt surgery. After 2 weeks the areas around his incisions were starting to get irritated by the staples/stitches so I was very ready for them to be GONE! Jet did great but (poor baby) it was NOT fun and lots of tears were involved. :( However - those tears were short-lived compared to today's 6 month check up. Yes it's a little late but we had to reschedule because of the shunt surgery 2 weeks ago. So today Jet went in and got 4 shots (including both flu shots) and 1 oral vaccine. I was expecting this and I think we would have done fine with only that to deal with - but we were thrown off by an unexpected and unpleasant experience. So this may sound weird but apparently 2 weeks of sponge bathing wasn't keeping Jet's ears clean enough - that and maybe he's just one of those babies who produces an odd amount of earwax - but his ears were to mucked up to see inside - do you see where this is going - so that had to clean them. And not just a little q-tip or something - there was scraping, some solution sprayed in there, then some sort of water-pick spray thing, then more rubbing with some tool, and lots and lots and lots of SCREAMING. :( From what I can tell it wasn't really hurting him - he's just still edgy from yesterday's staple-pulling where the doctor had to hold his head down by force and now today was a little of the same forceful - pinning of the baby and he DID NOT LIKE IT one bit. He was so red and sweaty and just as soon as I'd think we were done and I'd pick him up to comfort him they'd have me lay him down again and do the whole thing again! This was all BEFORE the shots! So you can imagine that after 30min or so of complete baby freak-out Mommy was starting to loose it too. The tears were just about to spill over (me) when they finally stopped. Phew. Deep sigh. But we still had to get him dressed (cry again) and into the carseat (cry again) before Michelle (thank you so much for going with me Michelle and Katie!) could feed him a nice bottle on the way home. Mommy was a mess. Baby was a mess. Now it's time for a calm afternoon (baby is asleep) and hopefully the vaccines won't bother him too much over the next week or so. I feel so awful putting him through two days of doctor drama but it's over now! And hopefully we won't have to go back for a month or so (when his neuro check-up is). So pray my little boy sleeps well today and tonight and that he won't develop a complex about the doctor's office....if it's not already too late. :) To end with - here are some pics of my sweet boy when he was happy with me 2 days ago.

Are you a foot?
Are you a hand?
Do you know me?
ALRIGHT!!!!
Sorry...inside joke with Aunt Kayleigh. :)

Bunny is my Home Boy

This is what I get to play with all day! He's like my own rainbow-bright doll. lol.
This is Jet's impression of the very hungry caterpillar. :)
My sunshine.
Trying to hide from mommy!
I don't think so silly boy!
Hey Jet! Whatcha doin?
Just hanging out in my crib with bunny. We're pals.
He lets me bite him. And I like his fluffiness.
Speaking of fluffiness. Who is that silly baby in a blanket?
Jet! It's you!
Oooh..my quilt. It's new every time I see it! lol.
Yes - after a week of staying at home Jet is getting restless. Okay so Mommy is getting restless too. :) We went on a little walk yesterday but it was pretty chilly even wrapped up in blankets so we didn't stay out long.
Jet tried to get ready by putting his paci in by himself....

"mommy is it supposed to squish my nose up like this?"
Bundled up my blue-eyed boy. :)
Today is really nice out so we went on another walk and it was much better - although Prince Jet didn't like the sun in his royal eyes so Mommy had to pull him backwards through the sunny parts. Can you say high-maintenance? lol. I guess he comes by it honestly. ;) Jet is continuing to recover nicely - I'm wishing we were getting those staples out sooner so I could get the "all is ok" from the doc and feel like Jet was totally recovered. He seems to feel good most of the time - and when he's fussy I still know we have teething to blame so it's hard to separate the ailments. He is taking more frequent and successful naps in his crib now and sleeping through the night again! :) Who knows how long it will last but his "fussy-night" streak that started back at just under 4 months old seems to have lifted finally at 6 months! It's spoiling us all over again I'm sure...but for now I'm enjoying the extra sleep. :) Well - that's all for now! I'll leave you with some more pics from our week at home.

At night Daddy reads me stories....we really get into "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Daddy tries to compete with my impression.
I've been in jammies all day! Mommy what is going on!?
Do you see these things on my feet?
They look just like my stuffed animal!
but I can't get them in my mouth!
sometimes is frustrating...sometimes it's funny.
Sometimes I really have to think about it...
But in the end I like them. :)
The End

Holiday Laughs

The day after Thanksgiving we braved the mall for Black Friday shopping with the family. Jet was in his pjs and we were set for a crowded (hopefully short) shopping experience. And it was PACKED as I expected....oddly enough Santa's Workshop was very quiet and there was basically NO LINE at all to see the jolly man! We were not expecting to introduce Jet to Santa or have his picture taken but seeing as he was so available we were persuaded (by Jet's Aunt Kelly and Michelle) to make a memory. :) Jet was not scared at all - but he did give us this priceless (and total Jet) face when they snapped the picture. All I can say is Jet better watch out when he brings his first girlfriend home. lol. Mommy loves this picture!
The of course Daddy was inspired to showcase even more funny Jet faces and created the classic elf-yourself video of our unsuspecting 6month old. It's pretty funny too. :) Babies are so stinkin' hilarious!
