Prayer Request

Jet would like everyone to say a prayer on behalf of his little friend, Annabelle. She is another "miracle baby" like Jet - born with SB- and is going to have her 3rd shunt revision surgery today. She was admitted to the hospital Sunday with her shunt malfunctioning (something that can happen at anytime to anyone with a shunt) and she is not even 7 months old. I remember when Jet had his shunt surgery at 6 months thinking of Annabelle and how she had been through this a few times already. :( I don't think this is the norm - and hopefully it won't happen again, poor baby- but it is still a worry -always floating in the back of the minds of mommies like myself. So please keep her and her family in your prayers - pray for a successful surgery, speedy recovery, and no more shunt problems for this precious little girl! Thank you so much!

Sweet Talker

With Valentines Day coming up I thought this video would be appropriate. I love this little boy. :) And is it just me, or does it sound like he loves me too?

Happy Love Month!

When your sick...

You get to snuggle up in blankets...
Eat pudding...
Watch cartoons...
And relax on the couch...
Yes - Jet has his first cold. And believe me - despite the cute pictures above - it's no fun! Even with all that my poor little boy is not enjoying his first cold. I'm not dedicated enough to take pictures of the sad moments this cold has brought on. The worst thing in the world according to Jet - wiping his nose. The worst thing in the world according to mommy - her baby can't breathe through his nose so that makes eating, sleeping etc. MUCH harder for poor baby - forget drinking a bottle! How do babies survive severe congestion!? He's had stuffy noses with teething but THIS is ridiculous. I feel so bad for him! Sunday he was such a sad little boy (and I was a very, very sad mommy). He would just cry if I wasn't holding him and walking around the room. Lip quivering and all! I kept thinking how I would see poor, sick babies around and dread when my baby would be that flush-faced, runny-nosed, teary-eyed mess - and now he is. :( Not as bad as some...but still not my healthy Jet.

Now I will say he is doing MUCH better than he was on Friday. He still has the symptoms but is happy to play and sleeping a little better. During this illness Jet has discovered he loves all types of pudding, avocado is still good, and cheese grits were successful. Hopefully he is on the road to recovery and can go back to just cutting teeth. And Mommy can go back to not worrying so much. So here's hoping for a long nap this afternoon little boy!
Mommy wants you to rest and get well SOON!

Lunch for Two

Today Jet had a guest join him for lunch...
Jet was overwhelmed with joy! He had been watching this guest for months and how they are so close! Wow!
Sadly...his guest could not stay for dessert.
But Jet enjoyed it anyway... :)
Way to go buddy! :)

Crazy 8

Jet has successfuly completed 8 months of being the light of our lives. :) He is cutting his second tooth, eating like a teenage boy, and sitting so well by himself I think he's going to scoot across the floor any day now! Which brings me to my top 5 things about Jet at 8 months -

#1 Rocking. I call it "dancing" but he's sitting down. :) I see babies do when they rock back and forth to music (or just the sound of their own voice) but so strongly and at a tempo fo fast that you think they'll just take off scooting across the floor on their booties. :) You know what I mean?! It's very cute and so fun to watch. He really rocks out to Baby Einstien. I still keep pillows around him for the occasional "swooning" when he just falls back mid-dance (sometimes intentionally). lol. I don't want him to think there's always going to be a cushion to fall on - but neither do I want his head cracking on the hardwood floor!

#2 Rolling. Jet is rolling consecutively to get around the floor and get to toys - recently he rolls right off the blanket I lay him on and sometimes into the coffee table. I'm glad he's figuring this out - he has now met his milestone with the PT for this period. Go Jet!

#3 Gobbling. I mentioned his eating habits - Jet's appetite is suddenly through the roof! He's more of a piglet than ever and his tastes are improving greatly with each passing day! Not that he was wasting away - he's weighing in at 20.5 lbs currently - but along with mashed sweet potatoes, pinto beans, bananas and all types of bread (muffins, cakes, loaves, you name it!) Jet has now eaten (and enjoyed) baby food macaroni & veggies, pears & blueberries...and Mommy's so happy to say... plums & apples! I have been trying to get him to take plums and/or apples for months now to help him "digestively" (if you know what I mean) and he just in the last 3 days ATE THEM!!! So again...GO JET!

#4 Giggling. What a giggle box! I have got SUCH a silly boy on my hands! Just like his daddy. :) Jet loves to laugh at himself and us! We take turns cracking him up and then our eyes water with how hard WE are laughing! He almost always laughs himself into the hiccups. I absolutely must catch this on video sometime. I love it! We still do pat-a-cake and that makes him smile too. He's starting to bring his hands together when we say "pat-a-cake" and that thrills us!

#5 Babbling. Jet has definately stepped up the baby talk a notch. He is "da da da-ing" all day long! (still working on the "ma ma-ing...he kinda dropped that sound a month or so ago) He also "ba-ba's" about as often. And then there are other sounds - I heard him say "bible (ba-bl) last week, he says "yeah" daily and 4 people swear they heard him say "Hello Bob" to my grandfather (who is named Bob) when they went over there last week. Believe what you wish...only Jet knows what he's trying to say. :)

So with that...here is what most of you check this blog for anyway...(haha) some pictures of the big 8 month old boy! Ladies...try not to swoon...
What a stud-muffin. And he loves muffins. How fitting is that?

Double Take

The other night after Jet's bath we were standing in the bathroom once again looking in the mirror - when suddenly a familiar picture came to mind...
Remember this?
Only that picture was of my 4 month old baby...
now in the mirror I saw my 7 1/2 month old little boy!
I can't believe how much he's changed!
For one thing that HAIR is insane! Where did all that come from! :) I look back at early pictures and he suddenly looks bald - I think "I don't remember Jet looking that thin up top?" lol. Same hair style though which is great. :)
Daddy - check...me... out!
Only Daddy would pretend to put deodorant on the baby.
Or brush his tooth.
Look at those silly boys. :)
Having some Daddy time before bed.
Jet loves to sit with David at the computer. The other day David asked Jet if he wanted to watch "his movie". I wasn't sure what he was talking about but when I peeked around the corner Jet was watching a disney short-film called For the Birds (click to watch)- the one with all the little birds sitting on the telephone line and then a much bigger bird comes to join them. It's pretty hilarious and Jet is mesmerized by all the twittering birds. His Daddy somehow discovered this and now he LOVES to watch Jet watch the video. It's really cute I must say.
They are so funny together.
This picture is a favorite.
Love that growl on Jet's face.
Love that he still looks tough in pale yellow pj's.
Love that he loves his Daddy.
Love that his Daddy adores him.
Love My Boys.
